Anna's Baptism and Father's Day

I have been in the middle of school lately so I have not had time to blog.  I have one more paper due next Thursday and then I am done for about 5 days and I start my second session of summer school.  It's been tough going to school this summer and having Anna but I knew I could do it.  I have one more class and then all I have left is my student teaching and I will be done with my masters!!!  I don't think I will be going back to school any more after this.....then again that's what I said last time.

Anna was baptized on Sunday.  It was such a nice service and thank you to all our sweet friends and family who were able to attend.  It was our preacher George's last Sunday.  George married us so we wanted him to baptize Anna.  Anna was very good through out the service and only cried once when her paci came out of her mouth.  She wore my gown which I thought was really sweet.
Here is Rev Victor, Rev George, and Rev Bill with Anna
My family
So Sunday is Father's Day and its Jeffrey's first Father's Day!!!  Last Thursday my friend Kelly went with me to take Anna to The Painted Pig in Little Rock and make some surprises for Father's Day.  Kelly made Anna the cutest cross for her baptism but since we waited till last Thursday all of our surprises will miss Father's Day :(.  So I have had to get several other things for Jeffrey and my Dad to make up for their Father's day gifts not being here.  Also my mom's birthday is Saturday and we made her a surprise but it also will not be here.

I will be going back to work soon which I am not happy about.  I am going to be so sad to leave Anna.  On the other hand it will be nice to be around all my co-workers again and get back into the swing of things.  So since I am going back to work I have to start giving Anna a bottle.  Everyone says how picky baby's can be and that it can take multiple bottles to figure out which one they like.....well little Miss Anna must not be picky because she liked the first bottle we gave her.  I gave her a newer bottle called a Tommee Tippee.  She loved it!!!  I almost couldn't get her to nurse after!  I will probably start giving her one bottle everyday and still breastfeed her the rest of the day.
We will be buying more of these soon.   Here is a picture of Anna taking her first bottle.
Also we went for a weight check yesterday and Anna is up to 7lb 3.6oz!!!  Whoo hoo!!!  Hopefully she will catch up to where she should be but I think she is just perfect.  I love being a mom to this sweet little girl!!
Have a great evening!

Last Week

I was meaning to blog last week but every time I thought about it I got busy! Monday my mom was going to go with me and take Anna to Wal-Mart to get groceries. Well I started summer school on Monday and realized I needed a book for one of my classes that day so we loaded up in the car and headed to the book store. Once we got home we were so tired we stayed home the rest of the day and I worked on some school work. On Tuesday we went to Wal-Mart and it was a learning experience for me. Anna threw up and had a very very messy diaper. So I ended up going to the car to change her while my mom checked out my groceries. After the trip to Wal-Mart we were very tired. Some of our friends came to cook dinner for us Tuesday night. Aaron, Ashli, and Brogan came over and visited. Dinner was so yummy and the company was awesome. Brogan is almost 6 months. Anna and Brogan will be great friends!!!

Also on Tuesday Anna was 3 weeks old. Time is flying by! I am trying to enjoy every little moment with my sweet little angle. We are just so in love with her.
My best friend Kama and husband Kyle came over Wednesday night and grilled out chicken wings. Also my little sister Stephanie spent the night with us. We had a great time but I didn't get to snap any pictures. Anna was not in a great mood that night. The chicken wings were great, Stephanie ate them like she had never eaten chicken wings before. I am sure my mom will have to start grillign her chicken wings. Thursday we were really tired in the morning, I guess Jeffrey took this picture of us before he left haha.
Later Thursday we went to Little Rock for lunch and then to Belk to return some stuff. It was nice to get out of the house but we are so tired when we get out of the house too much. Jeffrey came home early from work on Friday which was nice to have him home. My aunt and cousin came to visit Anna on Friday and so did Jeffrey's mom, Nana. (Of course my mom, Tata has to see Anna every day! Which I think is great they will have such a great relationship.) Riverfest was this weekend and this is the first time we haven't been able to go. Also Chuck, Jacob, and Colin came over Friday night as well as Will and Jessica. Anna had a busy busy day on Friday. Saturday morning we got up and just hung around the house. We decided to take a pictures of Anna next to her daddy's shoe.

Sunday night we went to eat at On the Border! Just the three of us. It was so yummy and nice to be out of the house. We were going to watch the fireworks but Anna was asleep so we just came home and put her to bed. Here she is before we went out to eat. None of her clothes fit her so we only have a few things she can wear. I can't wait till she can fit in all of the clothes she has!

She has really long arms!!!

Yesterday we stayed home all morning. Jeffrey made pancakes which was so nice of him and they were delicious! Later in the afternoon we went by Kelly's house to have a burger and let Kelly love on Anna since she hasn't seen her in a few days. Colin and Jacob are just so cute and love baby Anna so much.
Last night Tata and Aunt Kristen came over and we put on tutus. I will post pictures of them later. We also went on a walk as a family which Anna loved. Today Anna is 4 weeks old!! I will hopefully have pictutres later!!!! Have a great day!

Weekend

I will start with Thursday...we have been very busy! Thursday Jeffrey's work threw us a baby shower so I loaded Anna up in the car and my brother came along to help me with Anna and headed up to Jeffrey's work. It was so sweet of them to throw us a shower and it was very simple and small which was nice because I could talk with everyone. We got some really cute stuff and lots of diapers which is great because I don't think you can ever have too many diapers. Friday Anna had a weight check at the pediatricians office. She is now up to 5lb 4oz so we are doing good getting weight on her. I am so happy she is gaining weight. It make nursing in the middle of the night worth it! Also Friday we went to visit Anna's Tata and Sedo. Tata is my mom and Sedo is my dad, these are Arabic names for grandparents. I thought Friday night was just going to be boring but my parents came over and we ended up taking Anna to Las Palmas. My parents eat at Las Palmas every Friday night and sometimes Sunday nights and we go there all the time for family stuff. Our friends Chuck and Kelly stopped in and had dinner with us. We stayed there so late but it was nice to be out of the house and visiting with people. Saturday we cleaned house, my mom helped give Anna her first bath, and then went to my parents that night.

I sat inside with Anna, since it is so hot, while Jeffrey helped my parents clean out their gutters. Anna had her newborn pictures taken on Sunday by Jessica Worley. She is great and I have seen a sneak at her pictures and they are wonderful. Check out her website http://sweetlittlethingsphotography.net/. Today we went to Little Rock to buy a book since I started summer school today. I am going to have my plate so full!! I should be reading right now so I will go get started. I hope to get ahead but its going to be hard to get ahead when summer school is only five weeks. Hope everyone had a great Monday! I will leave you with Anna's one week and 2 week pictures. I will take her 3 week picture tomorrow.

2 Weeks Old

Yesterday Anna turned 2 weeks old. She really started acting like a normal baby last night and was screaming. I think she is having some tummy issues, poor baby. We went to the doctor yesterday because Anna has been choking which scares me to death. They said she probably has reflux. I spoke with the nurse this morning and the medicine they gave her can make her tummy hurt so I think that is why she was so upset last night. She didn't even want to nurse which makes me sad because I know she is hungry. We are just hanging around the house tonight. I think its suppose to start storming sometime today, hopefully it doesn't get too bad because I hate storms. I am going to try and cook dinner tonight, I am horrible at cooking but we will see how it goes. I hope to start blogging more to document our crazy life so I can have it to show to Anna one day. We will see how much I can blog. I start summer school on Monday and I have 2 classes plus a newborn so we will see how hard it is. Have a great day!

Anna Elizabeth Hughey

Well our life has changed.....and it's the best change in the world!!! Introducing Miss Anna Elizabeth Hughey! We went to the doctor on May 3rd for my 37 week check up. I have had some blood pressure issues throughout the pregnancy and my blood pressure was really high on this day. So my doctor sent me over to the hospital for a 24 hour observation and urine collection. So my mom hurried to the hospital and we hung out all day. The next morning, May 4th, my new nurse came in and she put the monitor on Anna and we sat and listened to her heart beat for about 20 minutes. The nurse came back in to take the monitors off and we were talking. She said you just had two contractions did you not feel them? And I hadn't felt either of them. I was getting ready to go use the bathroom and take a shower, when all of the sudden my water broke! I took a shower and the doctor came over and checked me. I was dilated to a centimeter. So we moved over to labor and delivery. I had contractions for awhile and never could feel any of them. The computer systems were messed up that day because they were getting a new system so it wasn't monitoring my contractions correctly. Then the contractions started! They weren't showing up on the monitor so when I asked Jeffrey if I was having a contraction he would say no and I was like what the heck these hurt. Since I thought I was only dilated a centimeter I didn't want to be a baby and get an epidural already, so I had them give me some pain meds which were awful and made me so sick. They checked again and I was dilated to a 3 so I decided it was time for the epidural. I had been worried about the epidural before hand but after feeling those contractions I just wanted something to make me feel better. I am glad I got my epidural when I did because I dilated to a 5 very quickly then before I knew it I was dilated to a 7. I only pushed for about 15 minutes and Anna was born at 6:01 pm and she was perfect. She weighed 4lbs 12 oz and was 18 inches long. It's amazing she is so small because I was huge!!

She was born at 37 weeks and 2 days so she was considered a near term baby. She stayed in the nursery with the other babies but had her own nurse. I was discharged from the hospital on Thursday May 6th but since Anna had lost weight down to 4lb 5oz we were able to room in while she stayed in the hospital. We finally went home on Mother's Day, May 9th, what a great Mother's Day gift.

Anna will be 2 weeks old tomorrow and as of Friday weighed 4lb 14oz. We are nursing like crazy working on getting her weight up. We go back to the doctor on Friday for another weight check.
I love being a mom, Anna is the sweetest little girl in the whole world and I love her more than anything in this world.
